Hello family and friends!
Yang JM always has the most thoughtful questions. We started teaching her the ten commandments a week ago. She had a really hard time understanding the concept of not worshipping other God. We did our best to explain and then she asks so can I pray to God and ask him to have the other God's bless me. Our pei ke was great and stepped into explain. After a lot of explaining she got it. Yesterday we were finally able to finish the 10 commandments. At the end we asked her if she would be able to keep the 10 commandments and she said yes. We spent a lot of time answering her questions and I realized that because of that she knows we care about her and can honestly say that she is willing to keep the commandments. It really is about teaching people and not lessons. I feel that it is easy to forgot and just try to get through all the lessons but you need to make sure that all their concerns are resolved.
Peng JM is slowly developing her faith and it is a blessing to be a part of it. We were teaching her the Plan of Salvation this week. At the end of our lesson she told us that she felt that she had a weird feeling while we were teaching her the lesson. Sister Briggs than told her that it could be her ancestors on the other side who are letting her know that this church is true.
She is a former and has lots of deeper questions. It is sometimes a challenge to know what to say but as we rely on the spirit it will let us know what to say.
This week has been full of opportunities to visit members and serve them which gives us the great opportunity to strengthen their testimonies. One of our ward members lost their maid this week so we and the elders went and cleaned her house for our service this week. This member does SO much for us I was grateful that we were finally able to serve her.
We went and saw one of our primary presidents this week. At the end she offered to go door knocking with us. I was so happy at how willing members here are to help build the Lord's kingdom
The other night as I was going to bed I had the most terrifying experience. I was talking with Sister Cisney and all of a sudden her face gets scared and she is like don't freak out. Then I slowly move and look behind me and there is this huge cockroach!! I start to scream only a little because I was also brushing my teeth at the time. Sister Cisney also starts screaming but is able to pull herself together and go and get the bug spray. She runs and starts spraying it but then it starts to FLY!! yes they fly! Sister Cisney and I had no clue that they fly!!! It flies into the study room and falls. Sister Cisney at that point continues to spray the bug. It dies but then we have the awful task to dispose of it. She goes and gets the Law of Chastity pamphlets to scoop up the bug. We then throw it out the laundry room window. We got a good laugh at this.
