Hello my dear family and friends!
I love you all so much! It was so good to be able to talk to you and hear your beautiful voices! I love being here in Taiwan. Every day is an adventure. I am grateful God called me here.
Sadly this past week has been slower than others. Sister Jasperson has been down with a nasty cold. We only went out a full day on Saturday. However, with the bits of time we were able to go out we were able to see lots of miracles.
One day we went out to go grab me some dinner. The walk from our house to the grocery story is only about 2 minutes. However, we went out in faith that we would be able to hand out one copy of the BOM and have a lesson. We went out and a lady contacted us! She was like Jesus Christ loves you. We were like yeah. We then gave her a tract and she ran off. However, a couple seconds later she turns around to talk to us. She asked about where our church is and what time it starts. We shared with her a little and gave her a copy of the BOM!! It felt so good!
Saturday we were able to meet with Chen JM. She originally started meeting with the Bada sisters (at that point is was Sister Anderson!). They just found out that she actually lives in our ward. She is super golden!! They have already taught her The Restoration, Plan of Salvation, and Gospel of Jesus Christ. We decided we would teach her obedience and WOW. She just got it. I was like when you hear Zhi Hui Yu (WOW) what words come to your mind. She responds someone who has more experience and warns us of things. I was AMAZED. Then after explaining we ask her any questions she says, It is pretty simple it tells us what things are good and bad for our body. She is so prepared!! She committed to try living the WOW for one week. She has her baptismal date set for January 25, 2014. Her only challenge will be coming to church.
Sunday we had a great lesson with Zhang XJ!! I absolutely am in love with her. She is not your average HS senior. She is super smart. She wants to go to Gaoxiong for college! She wants to major in music.
We had A HUGE miracle with her. We really were struggling to find a member to help us pei ke. We were afraid we would have to change days because we cannot meet with her alone because she is a minor. Than at church during Sacrament meeting I see Jason Huang sitting in front of me. I was like he is her same age and he is a great ward missionary. I talk to him and was like can you and your mom help us in this lesson. He was like I am enough you don't need my mom. I told him we needed an adult. Then as we were about to say where it was Sister Jasperson was inspired to ask do you think we could meet at your house instead. Their house is right across the road from the Family mart we were originally going to use. He was like it should be fine let me ask my parents. His parents were more than happy to let us use their home! That was just miracle one.
Miracle two the lesson was crazy but in a good way! We get in and Huang JM just starts sharing everything with her. She talked about her being sealed in the temple to her husband, the BOM, the WOW and much much more. I think what I really noticed though is she brought a very motherly feel to the lesson. She never pushed Zhang XJ but would lovingly encourage her to read and pray every day. She also gave her a copy of the Liahona.
Zhang Xj laughed and looked genuinely happy! At the end, I was a little nervous but looking back I can see how it was a huge miracle in disguise. We will meet with her again this Saturday at their house.
There is such a power in members’ homes. I believe the lesson was 10 times better because we were in a member’s home.
I forgot to mention our other cool lesson at a members home. Christmas night was spent at the Li family home with their neighbor. They called us Tuesday night and told us that they invited two families and they planned on watching the nativity and sing silent night. It was really good. We were able to give them a copy of the BOM. They were really nice. This family is always inviting friends over to their house. It is so great to see their example. I am grateful for their help!
I absolutely loved your e mail! It was so good to read! I am really touched!
I can really sense that this is such a vital time in my mission. I realize how little time I have left and how much more I want to do! There is so much I want to do but it seems as if no time! Time seems to be my enemy right now. However, I am determined to make the most of every second I have left!
This week is transfers! I don't know what it holds. I am really nervous I feel that a big change is in store but not quite sure what that means. I have really learned a lot these past couple of transfers. I would not trade any challenge I have had.
I am a month away from my year mark on island. As I look back I can't believe it! A YEAR! Is that even possible. How did this all happen so fast? I am not the same girl I was when I arrived. I have grown in ways I never imagined! God has blessed me beyond words! Then I remember don't look back but I do just to see what I have done than quickly look ahead to see what still needs to be done.
I know that it is only through Christ atonement that we will make it back to the presence of our Heavenly father. I know that God lives. I know that this gospel will bring us the most happiness we could ever imagine. I know that the BOM is the word of God.
I love you all!
Love
Sister Latimer
