Hello family and friends!
Only a very few sisters end up being the temple sister. I wanted to be a temple Sister in the beginning of my mission but now I don't have an opinion. I really get it now that it's about the people you are supposed to help.
That was a Man! Lovey music makes you trunky. The dream come true was how close we were to them. No I did not know about them before my mission. They are fairly new from what I understand.
I hope packing went smoothly! That is crazy to think in a little bit you will be back in the states.
Also this transfer we will be going to the temple. That means one of the days I will be e mailing on a Wednesday.
Dan Shui was so much fun!! I loved it! It is a city on the harbor!! You could smell the sea water. I would love to serve there one day! It is such a tourist city though. At one point a group of girls come up and want to take a picture with our elders. There were so many I was just hoping that they would be happy with one giant group one. They were. Sister Koch and I were like does this happen a lot! They told us yes! I just told them they are too shuai (handsome). It is a very touristy town. It feels like a carnival. There are lots of games and food. Our ward mission leader was also able to go with us. He is so funny.
Wednesday night was move calls! Elder Broeder moved (no surprise because we knew Elder Farrell would be staying and training!) and Elder Clyde. We were surprised that Elder Clyde moved because he had only been here a transfer. Now in our district is Elder Darger (Elder Farrell's trainee) and Elder Hawkins! Half of our district is within their first 3 transfers. What a young district.
It has hit me that Sister Koch only have 1 transfer of training left. I am amazed at how fast it has gone by. I am not sure how I feel about it. I feel as if the transfers are just flying by. I have no perception of time anymore.
Zhen li was baptized this past Saturday! I am so glad that I was able to teach her. She came pre prepared. Fun fact- She is a member's great niece. The aunt has a son in New York Mission. She was telling us how the mission president really takes time to get to know the missionaries. I ask her do you know who is mission president is. She was like no but I can bring pictures. It turns out the mission President is President Calderwood!! What are the chances? The world is getting smaller and smaller!!
Zhen Li's baptism was great! She is so funny! She did not smile for a single picture because that is her personality. Sister Koch was able to make her a candy Lei. Zhen li really liked that. We also gave her a cute teddy bear shaped card.
We were able to meet with a less active that the elders tracted into. She was baptized in Australia in 1996. A year later she moved back to Taiwan and has not been to church since. It's really sad because she does not consider herself a member of this church. At first us and the elders were confused because she would say your church is great. She is currently active in another Christian church. She just has a lot of questions. We will be meeting again with her this week. She will be moving to Idaho soon and she told us there she wants to find a church. We are thinking what a good place for a LA to go to. We will continue to meet with her until she moves. Her biggest problem with our church is our commandments. She does not like them at all.
Last Tuesday we were able to meet with the Shi Jia ting. The husband was there which is great because he is a Less Active. We gave a lesson about fathers. http://www.lds.org/media-library/video/2013-01-002-earthly-father-heavenly-father?category=mormon-messages/mormon-messages-2013 this is the video we watched. at the end he shared about how after seeing that video he wants to be better and spend more time with his kids. That was just the message he needed. I am really glad we followed the spirit.
I am loving it here in Taiwan. I do have to remind myself every day that I am only here for a short time. I need to soak it all in. It is a crazy life here but I would not have it any other way.
I love you all! God loves you all. Living the principles taught in the church is the only way to be happy.
Love
Sister Latimer
