Hello my dearest family!
All of the days are blending together. I get home and I turn to Sister Koch and ask what happened today? We then both stare at each other and laugh. All the days are wonderful though! It is such a privilege to be a missionary.
Last Monday we were able to have family home evening with the Chen family. Sister Koch taught us all how to make candy leis! It was so much fun. Especially eating all the candy! The family really enjoyed it. It was really good to get to know them. The mom is always super willing to pei ke ( assist in lesson?)
We had about 30 minutes to contact before we needed o go home. I was like I feel we should go to Ren Ai Gong Yuan. As I was back riding I was like let's park in a different spot. As I am locking up my bike I hear someone start talking to Sister Koch in English. He was like “You’re Mormon. I am Mormon too." I then go over and start talking with them. It turns out he was baptized 20 years ago in Xin Zhu!!! Then when he moved up to Zhong He he lost contact of the church. We were able to have a lesson and get his information which we were able to give to the elders.
Tuesday we meet with a AMAZING new investigator!! She was contacted by another set of missionaries. She was telling us that when she saw the sisters she thought that they were angels! We were able to share with her the first lesson. She had so many good questions! She wanted to know about the Book of Mormon and other things about our church. Our member did a great job at answering them. Thank goodness for members! There Chinese is leaps and bounds better than mine. At the end she told us how she liked the feeling in our church. I know that she felt the spirit! I cannot wait to meet with her this week!!
Thursday we were able to meet with the Lin family. The wife is the Primary president and the husband is Elders quorum president. I am grateful that we were able to get to know them more! They are a awesome solid family. The wife served in Salt Lake Temple square mission and the husband served in DC North. at the end we asked if they had any Less actives they would like us to visit. The husband gave us a list of 3.
Friday we had lunch with Sun JM who offered pei ke's for us!! She was telling us that later that day one of our investigators was coming over to talk with her. She is an AMAZING woman. Her husband died a few years ago and she had 2 kids at home. Despite all her challenges she is one of the happiest people I know! She told us I want to pei ke more. I love that woman!
That night we went on exchanges with our Sister Training leaders!! I was able to stay here in Shaung He with Sister O' Brien! I was s happy because she was my older generation at the MTC.
That night we had a lesson with a member referral Robin. We shared about prayer with her. I told her about how I know from personal experience that when we pray someone is listening! We then said a prayer with her. After the prayer we asked her what thoughts she had about prayer. She told us that she feels that prayer would help. She mentioned how last year she had some huge trails and how she wished she knew how to pray back then because she felt it would have helped.
We taught her the Restoration and the spirit that was in that room was strong. After we shared with her the first vision we asked her what she thought about Joseph Smith experience. She said it seems very sacred. Me and Sister O' Brien are like yes! We invited her to prayer about the BOM and Joseph Smith she said she would!
Saturday Sister O' Brien and I went to the Shuang 1 YM& YW activity. We had one of our Recent Converts there. We were able to rekindle that friendship with her. She even set up to meet with us this week!
That afternoon we had some time for tracting. We went to one of the parks. While we were there we tracted into a lady who has been contacted by the elders in the past. They were even able to give her a copy of the BOM! She was not willing to meet but we know that we are continuing to plant seeds in her heart!
We were on our way back to the chapel to review the exchange. We were a block away from the chapel and started talking to this girl. We were able to have a lesson with her and set up to meet with her this week. She seems great.
On Sunday we meet with Zhen ke ai mama (Lin JM). She has changed so much. She always has so many questions each time we meet with her. Yesterday she had bucket loads of questions about fasting. It was awesome!
That's the week in a nut shell! So much happens in a week!
I love you all more than words can express. You are always on my mind and always in my prayers. I know this church is true! I know that God hears and answers every prayer.
Love
Sister Latimer
